Speaker 1 00:00:05 Now the flames of persecution are raging all across the world, but as Mark said, reminded us, and I love that this morning, the flames of the gospel are raging as well, because their brothers and sisters who are willing to live for Jesus and they're willing to die for Jesus at open doors. We estimate that there are something like 360 million Christians around the world who are part of the persecuted church. That's one in seven brothers and sisters, that's one in seven members of our family. They're not just strangers, it's not just a statistic to bandy around. It's a family thing, our brothers and sisters. And this morning you are in for a real treat. You're gonna meet one of the risk takers from the persecuted church. As Mark was was speaking, I was thinking actually, it's almost like she's stepping out of the Book of Acts, stepping out of the book of Acts, sharing her story of extreme persecution, but also extreme faith.
Speaker 1 00:01:01 In a moment, we're just gonna watch a short video that's gonna set the scene for us. But we're gonna go to North Korea, what we estimate are open doors to be the riskiest place right now to be a Christian. And you're gonna hear about the depth of danger, the cost of following Jesus. But you are also gonna hear the depth of devotion and dedication to Jesus, which actually should stir our hearts, should provoke us, should challenge us, correct our perspective on the way that we live. So let's watch this video, and then I'll introduce you to one of the risk takers from the persecutor Church.
Speaker 1 00:02:17 As you encounter the persecuted church through HARU this morning. I believe God's gonna stir your hearts. And one thing I ask of you to do is this, is that you would allow open doors to stay in touch with you so you can pray, so we can send you the latest prayer requests and update so you can stand in the gap for your brothers and sisters across the world today. And it's really simple for you to do this. You can come and see me. Hey, we at the end and grab a postcard and fill out your details. There's also a slide that might appear on the screen as well, which will take you to, um, a page on our website where you can respond open doors uk.org/respond or scan in the QR code because it is so important that we respond to this. It's so important that we stand with those who live and die for Jesus today because we strengthen them, we stand with them, our support makes a massive difference, and means that they can stand strong and share Jesus and shine for Jesus no matter what. So without further ado, let's welcome Hey, woo, up to the stage. Hey, w
Speaker 1 00:03:23 Welcome. Hey, W and this is Jung, uh, the amazing translator that's been journeying with Heu the past few weeks. So welcome to you Heu.
Speaker 4 00:03:36 <unk> Nice to meet you. I love you.
Speaker 3 00:03:41 Ah,
Speaker 1 00:03:42 Thank you. Thank you. Hey, w would you just tell us, Mark's been sharing about this challenge of living for Jesus, and can you tell us how you live for Jesus in a North Korean prison camp?
Speaker 4 00:04:08 So
Speaker 3 00:04:08 She says she need to talk
Speaker 4 00:04:09 About
Speaker 3 00:04:11 Yeah, sure, sure.
Speaker 3 00:04:23 They sent me, um, north Korean, uh, they sent me to prison because of across the border to China. And also the, you know, I shared a gospel amongst the escape people. So they send me to the jail. So my family, um, a third generation, uh, Christian, Christian in North Korea, and, uh, all of them, first one, second one, they're all murdered because of their faith. She's the third generation.
Speaker 4 00:05:08 So
Speaker 3 00:05:09 Before she's, she escaped to North Korea and her husband escaped before them, and he became Christian. But, uh, he's been, uh, sent back to, uh, kind of rep repatriate, repatriate, repatriate, repatriate, repatriated to, uh, to North Korea. So, uh, somehow because of him, they heard about Jesus and whole family became Christian.
Speaker 4 00:05:34 <unk> is,
Speaker 3 00:05:43 So, she, she escaped North Korea twice to China, and, uh, she kind of captured again twice back to North Korea. So when she captured that, uh, it was her punishment was, uh, uh, because she's been Christian and they began to torture her. And also, uh, severe interrogations began, uh, as she said, as a woman, it was a horrible experience. First three days, uh, she thought, you know, maybe, you know, she was, maybe she was in so much fear. So because of fear, she couldn't seek help to the Lord
Speaker 4 00:06:59 On
Speaker 3 00:07:00 A fourth day of, uh, continuous, uh, torture, torturing, uh, thing. So she finally realized that she couldn't bear the pain any longer. So on the fourth day, she really cried out, helped to the Lord. She remembered the particular scripture that Jeremiah 33 and three, that, uh, yeah, she prayed based on their scripture
Speaker 3 00:07:42 So I think she skipped quite story there. So she was, she has, uh, she's been torturing and the pain was so much, but at the same time, she prayed and she asked for help to the Lord. But at the same time, uh, lord's shown her kind of a, a very, kind of a vivid film in front of her eyes. When she, uh, prayed to the Lord, the Lord told her, think about micros, my sacrifice. She heard the od her voice. So then she realized her time, you know, being tortured is nothing compared to Jesus Lord, the strength to stay focused.
Speaker 4 00:08:47 She
Speaker 3 00:08:47 Prayed to the Lord that keep her mouth safe, not to deny the name of Jesus Christ. She prayed continuously that the Lord gimme the strength and, uh, the power that, uh, that I can, I can stay focused in your name.
Speaker 4 00:09:13 <unk>. So
Speaker 3 00:09:22 Why is, uh, the guards keep torturing me? And, uh, the film was, uh, keep going on because Lord showing me all his ministry on earth and also his death and, uh, everything, I've seen it all. And, uh, the moment the torture stopped and the film also stopped. So the guard, God thought that she completely lost her conscious. So they, they sent her back to a, a sale. And, uh, then she heard a really thunderous voice. Thunderous voice. Uh, she believed that there was a Lord that was telling her. The voice was like this, my beloved daughter, just, now you walked on water, my final verdict would be public execution as a believer. But that didn't happen. So let me, lemme sum up the story that, uh, you know, otherwise, she's, she's really telling me that all the detailed stories, so, you know, I want you to hear the full kind of version. So she was saying that, uh, um, uh, because of malnutrition, so she lost her eyesight. She couldn't hear things properly, and she also lost the voice and she couldn't even walk properly. But they send her to, uh, many, many prisons. So she's been around like, uh, 10th, 10th prison to hear the final verdict.
Speaker 3 00:11:48 We restored my health back to normal without having, without taking any medicines or any treatments.
Speaker 4 00:11:58 So
Speaker 3 00:11:58 They sent me to 10th prison
Speaker 4 00:12:10 Before
Speaker 3 00:12:10 She entered that 10th prison, which is quite notorious for, uh, you know, not many people surviving that, uh, prison camp. So before she entered, she prayed to the Lord, Lord, help me out. And then she heard a voice, another order, audible voice that, uh, she was saying, uh, laws was Lord was saying, my daughter, do not worry. I'll help you out.
Speaker 4 00:12:34 When
Speaker 3 00:12:35 I heard the voice, I just marching very boldly into the prison.
Speaker 4 00:12:50 So
Speaker 3 00:12:50 Many people were dying in that prison because they only give you, uh, the corn of a cup of, uh, rotten corns. That was the only food that we can eat as a daily consumption. <unk> so many people were dying with the starvation and also many disease were were going around in, in Nestle.
Speaker 4 00:13:21 So
Speaker 3 00:13:21 They were, because of there no food and the in a, in a, in a prison camp camper, you know, the prisoners were trying to catch rats. And also, uh, you know, snakes, when they, when they sent out the fieldwork in a mountain, they trying to catch the snakes as well. She felt so sorry that, uh, because of, uh, so many people were dying without hearing, uh, the Lord's name. So she actually, because she, she feels so saddened about it. So she prayed to the Lord, Lord, you, you, you told me to be a, a light and salt, but how can I be a light and salt in this prison cell? She prayed to the Lord
Speaker 4 00:14:09 When
Speaker 3 00:14:09 She prayed that prayer, especially special prayer. And Lord told her with a very sweet and tender voice,
Speaker 3 00:14:19 The sentence was she, and sacrifice,
Speaker 4 00:14:27 Because
Speaker 3 00:14:28 Sacrifice, I can understand Lord, but share what can I share in this place?
Speaker 4 00:14:43 Then
Speaker 3 00:14:43 She suddenly realized that when she saw that a cup of, uh, cones coming in and, oh God, okay, that is, that is the, the one that I need to share with the people. So, um, during the mo, during the, um, uh, time three years, uh, being sentenced in net cell, so I, I was obedient to God's words that, uh, I shared those one cup ofs into three, you know, she divided into three portions, and she shared one portion herself and two portions. She, uh, she shared with other people. So she, she had to sacrifice because it was a God's command. Then Lord gave me another command to share the gospel. She Lord told me, evangelize in this place, and she shouted back to the Lord, saying, Lord, how can I evangelize in this place if, if I was discovered, if I'm discovered, I be dead immediately. She now recalls back the moment that, uh, it was, she, her voice was louder than the Lord's voice when she shouted back.
Speaker 3 00:16:32 So she's saying that, uh, for three days she was disobedient, she was kind of, oh, okay, you know, oh, I can't do it. But on the third day, suddenly she felt she had a really, you know, fire, kind of fire burn and really fire kind of, uh, pain in her heart. And so she was rolling in this place, and you know, the other place she was really kind of felt like dying. She was rolling around that. At the same time, she was thinking, why am I having this pain? Why am I
Speaker 4 00:17:12 Pain? Then,
Speaker 3 00:17:15 Lord make me realize that
Speaker 4 00:17:26 She
Speaker 3 00:17:26 Realized that the pain, uh, was from the Lord, somehow make me to realize that I was disobedient to Lord's command, that I wasn't evangelizing as Lord commanded me.
Speaker 4 00:17:44 Then
Speaker 3 00:17:44 She plead to the Lord, give another chance, Lord, I'll be obedient to your command.
Speaker 3 00:17:55 As soon as she repented her heart, her heartbeat became normal. And, uh, she, yeah, she just became normal. Lord is quite good generally every time. But Lord can be quite opposite side. When I'm disobedient, she says, she just asked Lord a lot of questions. Lord, I don't know how to do, you know your command, but can you tell me how I do it kindly that the verses that I could use to, you know, uh, to evangelize the verse, she was given act, book of act 1631, believe in Jesus, then you, you and your household will be saved.
Speaker 4 00:18:58 Lord
Speaker 3 00:18:58 Pointed the person and also Lord confirmed that how to do it and when to go, uh, how to, how to follow them. So yeah, everything, she just been instructed by God.
Speaker 3 00:19:22 Because I know God is fearful, God also. So I just follow the god's, God's instructions. So I followed one, one by one, one by one. And when, whenever they go to go to the lou, I follow them and then share that the verse that God given to me. So, uh, she shared, uh, the, uh, the scripture, and also she gave them two options. You live in Jesus, then you go to heaven. If you're not, you go, you'll go to the hell.
Speaker 4 00:20:10 But
Speaker 3 00:20:11 All of them, God pointed out that those ladies, they all received the Jesus Christ as a savior and Lord. So she's saying that God gave her congregations of five ladies, but she always kind of, uh, had the kind of eager to worship together. Worship together to God. So she was asking, Lord, you know, where can we, where can we worship you?
Speaker 3 00:20:56 So she shouted that, Lord, Lord, you gave me your people, but uh, you know, you got to give me the place to worship you. What you gonna do?
Speaker 4 00:21:05 <unk> Then
Speaker 3 00:21:08 I heard really kind voice of Lord again, there is a toilet
Speaker 3 00:21:23 So she was describing that yolo your toilets here, very luxurious, but the toilet, she, you know, she's been pointed, was smelly and the most horrible place that you can't even imagine.
Speaker 4 00:21:42 The
Speaker 3 00:21:43 Reds running around and the smell is unbelievable. And, uh, you know, even guards try to avoid that place. So she kind of shouted again to the Lord, Lord, are you sure you want to receive your worship and praise from that place? Are you sure about it? Then Lord didn't answer me any, any sentence
Speaker 4 00:22:20 <unk> She
Speaker 3 00:22:21 Always assumed that, uh, the worship meant to be happen in a kind of holy and clean and pure place.
Speaker 4 00:22:30 So
Speaker 3 00:22:30 Our, our idea and Lord's idea is completely different. She realized, kindly instructed me how he can, he wants to receive the worship in the toilet on Sunday. We are free from the labor. So, uh, we gathered very quietly in a toilet,
Speaker 4 00:23:17 So
Speaker 3 00:23:17 A full of people, you know, in, in Nestle, so many people, but, uh, there's a few toilets around. So, uh, what the Lord told me to do was, um, just one pretend to do the business and the rest are five, just pretending queuing up. So that's the kind of, um, the looks, you know, the look of the worship
Speaker 4 00:23:37 <unk> is
Speaker 5 00:23:49 I
Speaker 3 00:23:49 Whispered the scripture and I also taught them how to worship. And I also taught them the, the worship songs to them really in a short span of time. I taught them. And, uh, they really, we were really worshiping God for that moment.
Speaker 5 00:24:07 Lord
Speaker 3 00:24:08 Protected our worship time.
Speaker 1 00:24:10 Amen. Amen. If it's all right with you, maybe we could stand and maybe, hey, we, you could help us worship with our brothers and sisters in North Korea, who right now might be worshiping Jesus in the toilets and, but their hearts are pure and they come and they worship Jesus with everything that they've got, and let's worship with them. He's gonna sing a song that she taught her little congregation. Amazing Grace.
Speaker 5 00:24:43 Let's join them. Oh, amen.
